Commissioning of the Antwerp Sulphur Terminal

Duval's Antwerp sulphur terminal on the Scheldelaan (today: Vopak ACS Terminal) went into operation. The terminal offered storage capacity for liquid sulphur, a covered hall for solid sulphur and a sulphur smelter.

Transition to Pure Liquid Sulphur Processing

The sulphur smelter was in operation until the 1990s. It was then decided to switch to "liquid only" and to remove the solid handling and the smelting plant.

Here is a short description of how to get to the Albertdok in Antwerp:

Arriving by car:

– Take the Autobahn E313 or E34 in the direction of Antwerp til the intersection Antwerp-East

– Drive the ‘Antwerp Ring’ in the direction of Breda/Niederlande R1

– Take the exit in the direction of Bergen op Zoom A12

– Take exit 16 (in the direction of Ekeren)

– Follow the Noorderlaan Street, direction „Haven 1-199“

– Turn left into the Oosterweelsteenweg (direction Scheldelaan)

– Drive 400 metres over the Oosterweel bridge

– 200 metres after the bridge, turn left at the first set of traffic lights, drive into the driveway, ring the bell at the gate and wait to be let in.
